Sunflower

Uniqueness: Heirloom sunflower sourced from local Tamil Nadu farms; produces large nectar-rich heads that attract pollinators and yield nutritious seeds. Excellent for ornamental beds, bird feed and edible seed harvests.

How to grow:

- Best soil: deep, well-drained loamy soil with compost; pH 6.0–7.5. 

- Sunscreen: full sun, minimum 6–8 hours for strong stem and flower development. 

- Watering: regular deep watering during establishment; moderate thereafter to encourage root growth. 

- Nutrients: compost at planting and phosphorus-rich starter; side-dress with potassium during bud formation. 

- Companion plants: plant with beans or corn for mutual support and space efficiency. 

- Care tips: stake tall varieties in windy sites, remove secondary heads to focus energy on main bloom when seed size is priority.
