Red Okra

Uniqueness: Distinct red-skinned okra valued for tender pods and mild flavour; adds colour to curries and stir-fries. Good source of vitamin C, fiber, folate and antioxidants that support digestion and immunity.

How to grow:

- Best soil: well-drained loamy soil rich in compost; pH 6.0–6.8. 

- Sunscreen: full sun, minimum 6 hours daily for steady flowering and pod set. 

- Watering: regular deep watering once or twice weekly; keep soil evenly moist during flowering and pod fill. 

- Nutrients: incorporate compost at planting and side-dress with balanced NPK when plants flower. 

- Companion plants: plant near basil, marigold or beans to deter pests and improve pollination. 

- Care tips: thin seedlings to 30–45 cm spacing, pick pods young and often (before seeds bulge) to encourage continuous yield.
