Agathi Keerai

How to grow:

- Best soil: well-drained loamy soil; tolerates poorer soils and waterlogged patches for short periods. 

- Sunscreen: full sun (5–7 hours) for rapid growth. 

- Watering: regular watering during establishment; drought tolerant once established. 

- Nutrients: light compost at planting; nitrogen-fixing when intercropped with legumes. 

- Companion plants: excellent as a green manure between rows; grows well near rice and paddy edges. 

- Care tips: harvest young shoots frequently to keep plants tender; avoid harvesting more than one-third of foliage at once.
